She is a beautiful and very intelligent 60 year old. Your notes are very interesting. Thank you for them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4332166427202301275.post-21085788733907765202008-06-24T03:30:00.000+12:002008-06-24T03:30:00.000+12:00It took me six months of my hearing constantly flu...It took me six months of my hearing constantly fluctuating to say that I am really happy with my CI. So two months is a relatively short amount of time. Babies do not learn language in two months and that is what we have, a babies ear :)

I am looking so forward to meeting you! :) It is indeed a very small world on the internet... I know you said in an earlier post that you are menopausal. This could be effecting you too. Sometimes my hearing fluctuation is really bad and I've been in tears over it. But it is not the implant it is my body. HRT really effected my hearing. Everytime I went on a new medication or put on a new patch every fortnight my hearing went way out of kilter - really loud for some sounds and others not heard. I miss hearing sounds.

I will be meeting with my surgeon before my CI surgery in August.

It's hard not to expect too much. I am also an impatient person. Thanks for sharing your experience. This helps me not expect too much. I was told right at the beginning, from docs, audiologists, and people who had been reimplanted, that it will take at leasst 6 to 8 months for me to get used to it, or to start getting back to where I was. It's only been 2 months so it's very much early days.

Even when I was implanted back 15 years ago, it took quite a few years to get to near normal hearing. Nothing comes quickly, it's just the brain that has to get used to things.

So I'm doing okay. It's not a cure for deafness, but it's still better than having nothing at all, at least in my opinion.

Cheers
RobynAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4332166427202301275.post-567998792462003862008-06-17T23:45:00.000+12:002008-06-17T23:45:00.000+12:00I have been following your blogs, I find your desc...I have been following your blogs, I find your description of positive and negative experiences about new implant and remapping valuable. It is something all people considering implants need to be aware of it.

I do not think you are being impatient considering the immediate need for being able to communicate with people, enjoy t.v. shows and time length of getting adjusted with new implant to me is pretty lengthy.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08559105266924394195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4332166427202301275.post-54067361274439527962008-06-17T19:41:00.000+12:002008-06-17T19:41:00.000+12:00Well, you can always look at it this way - I talk ...Well, you can always look at it this way - I talk a load of rubbish half the time so not being able to hear me has to be a good thing!!!!

Perhaps they can make a special "Bron" setting for you too which is essentially the same as mute! And then you could say to me "Oh sorry Bron, I can't hear you properly, I'll just turn this thing 'up'......." Click! :-)Morganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12017359633597565622noreply@blogger.com
